We have so much to share from this incredible wedding that we're splitting it in two! We had two incredible days with Emma, John, and their families who all made us feel warm, welcomed, and right at home from the moment we arrived. The comfort and love these two share easily extended to their families, who blended so well together that every event was filled with laughter and heartfelt moments.
As anyone who has been to Hearst Castle knows, the surrounding property is expansive with rolling green hills as far as the eye can see. Emma's father spent summers on the property when he was growing up, looking after the cattle that roam on the many acres of ranch land. The family has a deep connection to the ranch, which was a prominent factor on their wedding day.
As we drove to the ceremony site for the rehearsal, deep into the hills of the Hearst property and far out on a dirt road, we were often in awe of the breathtaking views. It seemed that everywhere you turned was picturesque. But even with all their options, they had found the perfect location for their wedding ceremony. Located on a grassy hilltop covered in wildflowers, the ceremony site had stunning views of mountains and valleys to the East and scenic ocean views to the West.
Anais + Dax, good friends of ours who had brought us in to work with them on this wedding, had a day of portraits planned for Emma, John, and their beloved dog, Lola, at various locations around the Hearst property. It's easy to be inspired by the incredible landscapes and we were happy to join them, collaborate, and contribute to the portrait session.
The day came to an end at a Spanish-themed welcome dinner for all their guests. The seaside warehouse had been beautifully transformed into a fiesta. Encouraged to dress in cowboy casual attire, the room was festive, but it absolutely radiated when Emma and John arrived.
All-in-all, it was an exciting day that had been filled with inspiration for us and we couldn't wait to see what their wedding day would bring.
