Christine and Michael are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are immediately warm and welcoming and have absolutely infectious smiles. Christine was breathtaking in a stunning Jenny Packham gown and honestly the two of them together just took our breath away. Special thanks to Myles Pettengill for bringing us in to help photograph this wedding! Coordinated by Happily, every detail was well thought out and perfectly in place and with all the oak trees on the property, The 1909 is now one of our favorite places to shoot! This wedding was full of love, laughter and drop dead gorgeousness - we loved being a part of it! Congratulations, Christine and Michael!!!
Danielle and Jason are very good friends of ours. We've known them since before they first started dating and have watched their relationship grow into a bond stronger than any ceremony or marriage certificate could prove. This photo session actually occurred more than a year ago, but we share it now because they have exchanged rings in their own way and committed their love and devotion without the confines of social expectations. They are defining their love and relationship on their own terms. They set a fine example that love knows no rules or bounds but is instead pure joy, comfort, and trust. We love them dearly and wish them love and happiness for years to come!
Alex is a true romantic at heart. These two had a plan to become engaged on an upcoming trip, but Alex wanted the engagement to be a surprise. They always take a walk down the Santa Monica Pier after their Thursday night dance class so Alex thought it would be the perfect setting where she would be completely unsuspecting. We talked briefly on the phone about where he would stop her and exchanged photos since we had never met!
When we arrived the night of the proposal we were amazed to see that the Ferris Wheel was lit up with a heart. We couldn't have asked for a better backdrop! We carefully looked at every couple who walked by, yet tried to remain incognito - we didn't want to miss them! Fortunately, we recognized them instantly. They were both beaming and walking with a certain lightness to their step. As they made a second pass he stopped her - almost perfectly under a lamp post. They chatted, she threw her head back and laughed... then he paused, lowered down to his knee and held out his hand.
She immediately covered her face as the reality of what was happening took hold. She then squealed with joy and threw her arms around his neck. She laughed and cried with pure happiness... and said YES. Other people passing by on the pier clapped and shouted their congratulations and we too were swept up in their joy as Alex pointed us out in the crowd. She was thrilled and gave us huge hugs (which we love because if you've met us you know we are huggers!).
These two are an incredibly sweet couple and we were so honored to be a part of their life's journey together. Alex and Julie, we wish you the best of what life has to offer and many wonderful years together filled with laugher and happiness!
We were so excited to photograph Melissa and Greg's wedding after having spent a morning with them for their engagement session last September (see their engagement post here). They are such a fun couple to be around with their kind spirits and love for each other enveloping everything around them. The day was full of smiles, love, and laughter with both families full of energy, love, and support for their union. After getting ready and taking some couple's portraits with a stunning sunset backdrop at the Four Seasons, their wedding was held at the beautifully romantic Il Cielo in Beverly Hills, CA. It was a fun and spirited reception all the way up to the final moments when Il Cielo's wedding chariot escorted Melissa and Greg back to the Four Seasons while being serenaded by a singer and accordion player! We had a blast photographing their wedding and wish them an abundance of love and laughter in their marriage. Congratulations, Melissa and Greg!
Scott and Eileen came to us to help them create a reimagining of their wedding. Married almost a year ago, and opting to have family and friends take their wedding photos, they didn't quite capture everything they were hoping for. Challenge accepted! We had an amazing time in Agoura Hills, California. The two of them dressed in their wedding clothes, walking up and down the rolling hills, and a beautiful setting under an oak tree for them to recreate their ceremony. To our surprise, they had written new vows to reconfirm the love they have for each other and recited them as the sun set behind the hills. After the rustic setting, we headed to El Matador beach in Malibu, to catch the sunset and some beautiful moments at last light. We wish Scott and Eileen love and light in their lives together and we feel so fortunate to be able to help them recreate these memories.
Bethany and Chris, the rocker and the clothing designer, and their beautiful wedding at Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank, California. The bride showed her impeccable style with her gorgeous detailed lace gown, jeweled hairpiece, and brown, leather, knee-high boots. The groom performed, serenading his love with a song he wrote especially for her. Family and friends joined in the celebration playing music by request and getting down on the dance floor. The love between these two was magical and we loved every moment of documenting their day.
One of Vitae Weddings' very own, Stacie, is getting married in July! We put together a simple, beautiful engagement session at Descanso Gardens, a botanical garden in Los Angeles County. The weather in December was lovely and crisp, the leaves were golden, and the winter sun fell perfectly through the large California oak groves. Bret and Stacie, both being photographers, graciously allowed the camera to turn on them and capture their adorable silly moments as well as their palpable love. We cannot wait for the wedding!!
